SAP said on October 27, 2026, at its annual SAP TechEd conference, that it is expanding its portfolio for developers with a series of AI innovations. Enhancements to Joule Studio, Joule Work and the SAP Business AI Platform, including its latest tabular foundation model, offer new tools to build and extend AI agents, richer data and business context, and governance controls to run agents across the enterprise.

Joule Studio lets business users and developers build and extend agents with no-code and pro-code tools, choosing from more than 70 AI models. SAP said customers in the Joule Studio early adopter program can also design and run n8n workflows, with broader availability to follow. SAP said customer data remains the customer's data and that it does not share customer data with anyone to train or improve large language models.

SAP said new Joule Work capabilities will help AI agents handle complex business processes through open protocols, including Agent2Agent (A2A) and Model Context Protocol (MCP). SAP also said a new SAP Enterprise AI Gateway will extend governance to AI interactions, consolidating authentication, policy enforcement, routing, monitoring, usage tracking and auditing across the enterprise.

In partnership with HPE, SAP announced the deployment of SAP-RPT on the HPE Spaceborne Computer-2 aboard the International Space Station. SAP said SAP-RPT is planned to run directly onboard the station, supporting anomaly triage, failure prediction, reconstruction of sensor values from historical data and mission-health reports for astronauts and ground teams. According to the company, the work does not require data to be sent back to Earth for analysis.

SAP also said it is expanding its partnership with Databricks, bringing Databricks data engineering and AI capabilities into SAP Business Data Cloud as SAP Databricks. SAP also said it is expanding its lakehouse capabilities with Dremio, adding native support for Apache Iceberg and Apache Polaris.
