On October 21, 2026, Equinix introduced the Equinix Enhanced Performance Innovation Centers, or EPIC, a global network of production-ready liquid cooling environments. Enterprises can use the centers to test, build and deploy high-density AI infrastructure with Equinix experts and technology partners.
Equinix said EPIC is live in Frankfurt, London, Osaka, Paris and Sydney. It expects more locations to open in 2027. Each location operates inside a live Equinix data center, where enterprises can trial liquid-cooled GPU and CPU platforms with hardware partners and test AI training and inference workloads under real-world conditions.
Equinix said customers can assess combined liquid cooling stacks with its ecosystem of technology partners and original equipment manufacturers under field conditions. The company said this lets enterprises see how the systems integrate before large-scale deployments.
Brian Stein, Senior Vice President, Infrastructure Products and Services at Equinix, said liquid cooling is an essential component of modern enterprise infrastructure and a requirement for customers deploying AI. Matthieu Blumberg, SVP of Engineering Infrastructure, Security, Internal IT and CISO at Criteo, described how the customer tested liquid cooling at EPIC before committing to scale.
Equinix said EPIC builds on its earlier innovation spaces, including a Co-Innovation Facility announced in 2022 and Solution Validation Centers rolled out in 2024.
