Nucor said it is expanding production at its Nucor Towers & Structures facility in Crawfordsville, Indiana, pending receipt of regulatory and other approvals. The company announced the plan on October 8, 2026.
Nucor said the additional $105 million investment will add capacity to manufacture utility poles and related products that support the nation's power transmission and distribution infrastructure.
The expansion includes more than 120,000 square feet of additional manufacturing space with advanced automation and modern production equipment. Nucor said the investments are designed to expand production capacity while supporting efficient, safe and high-quality operations. The Indiana facility currently employs 328 people.
Chair and Chief Executive Officer Leon Topalian said the expansion reflects demand in the utility market, where utilities are investing to modernize the electric grid and meet growing electricity demand.
Nucor Towers & Structures was formed in 2022 after Nucor acquired Summit Utility Structures LLC, which operated a production facility in Pennsylvania. Nucor later built Towers & Structures facilities in Alabama and Indiana and is constructing another in Utah. The company employs about 2,600 people at more than a dozen locations across Indiana.
